Spirit of the community

This community is for supporters of Acumen Fund and fans of Jacqueline Novogratz's book - "The Blue Sweater". If you're not familiar with Acumen Fund or "The Blue Sweater", please check out www.acumenfund.org to learn more about us before you post.

We want to foster community for people who have been inspired by the work of Acumen Fund and the messages of "The Blue Sweater". We hope to provide a place for open discussion of issues, encouragement, inspiration… a place of adventure and shared journey.

In this spirit, we have some guidelines we would like you to be aware of:

The goal is community. While freedom and honesty are virtues, be careful not to use them at the expense of others.
Remember that men, women, and teenagers have access to the public forums. Speak appropriately for that audience.
To encourage authentic community we discourage multiple online identities.
While some conflict and disagreements occur in any community, we expect each of you to do the work of moving towards community and not division.
In order to preserve this community, we will set boundaries when the spirit of this community is violated.

Here are some simple guidelines to get you started:

DO's

Complete your profile using your name [NOT a Business or Organization name]
Add a Personal Photo within 7 days of joining.
Reach out to others via their Profile Comment Wall.
Contribute where ever you can add value with your expertise.
Reply to others in a respectful manner.
Introduce yourself and include a link to your website.
Join the "Group" for your city and other "Interest Groups"
Invite others to join us.

DON'Ts

Use the internal email system to send more than bulk emails, promotions, deals, notices or solicitations of any kind - When in doubt don't sent it out! We have a zero tolerance policy for such behavior. [Internal Email is for relationship building].
Use the Event, Forum or Blog functions as a way to circumvent the above.
Post Advertising on other members' profiles.
Use 'Acumen Fund's Community' or Community in any promotions without permission.
Create more than one Profile (if you can't login to your original profile use the 'Forgot your password' link).
Threaten, insult, or harass another community member. [cause for removal]
Engage in unethical or otherwise harmful business practices. [cause for removal]
Post False or Misleading information. [cause for removal]
Hire someone to manage your account or post using your identity
Post ANY material or content which you do not own or have permission to post. [Please honor copyrights because it's the right thing to do]

For the most part, this community is moderated by you. While our community administrators and staff will have a hand in things if needed, we want you to invest in each others growth and in preserving the freedom and life of this place by your interactions and investment in each other.

Jo ANN, I think these are basic principles of life and honesty and do not think can restrict any positive minded person willing to develop his community and contribute to building a better world not to adhere to. Thanks Billy ALORVOR
