BOSTON+acumen is a self-organized, volunteer-led group that seeks to inspire and empower like minded individuals in the greater Boston area who are passionate about supporting Acumen Fund’s mission to create a world beyond poverty. Our chapter is one of 12 +acumen chapters around the world sharing the principles of patient capital, cultivating an understanding of Acumen Fund’s values, and putting these principles into practice in our community.

“Technology and Innovation for the Developing World” featuring Grameenphone Founder, Iqbal Quadir
Join the Social Enterprise Institute as we welcome distinguished guest Professor Iqbal Quadir, the Founder and Director of MIT's Legatum Center for Development and Entrepreneurship.
Professor Quadir is also the founder of Grameenphone, which paved the way for universal access to telephone service in Bangladesh. Currently the largest telephone company in Bangladesh, Grameenphone provides telephone access to more than 100 million rural people living in 60,000 villages to generate close to $1 billion annually.
Professor Quadir will discuss the importance of technology and innovation for market specific products for nearly 4 billion customers at the base of economic the pyramid. Professor Quadir's work has been recognized by the World Bank, United Nations, the World Economic Forum and the Aspen Institute. He was selected as the Global Leader for Tomorrow by the World Economic Forum based in Geneva, Switzerland. He has been featured in CNN, PBS, Financial Times, The Economist, the New York Times and several other books & publications. Wharton Alumni Magazine selected Professor Quadir for its list of 125 Influential People and Ideas.
