I'd like to personally invite you to an event this Friday (2/5) focused on market-based solutions to poverty. Acumen Fund will be represented by Yasmina Zaidman, Director of Communications. This a great chance to connect with others who are passionate about Acumen Fund and the use of market-based approaches to solving poverty - and to build the necessary relationships and momentum to get Acumen Fund chapters started in your area.

Hey - why so quiet? Is everyone busy looking for summer internships? This would be a great place to share what you're all up to, tips, ideas, etc.

The Alleviating Poverty Through Entrepreneurship Summit on February 5, 2010 at The Ohio State University will bring together students, professionals, and community members to connect with each other and learn about market-based approaches to solving poverty. The Summit will feature local, national, and international speakers - presenting the approaches through three perspective lenses: Policy, Academic and Practitioner.

Hello to all of you in school and studying

We are looking for students to help spread our online brand to build sustainable, high nutrition, BOP ago production models in rural Africa. I hope some of you will contact me directly. We hope to sponsor 2 US interns starting next summer if not sooner during the Easter Holidays.

In the meantime, looking for students who want to work with us online.

I am co-moderating a #ypsc Twitter chat: Young Professionals for Social Change, tomorrow (thursday) at 9PM EST. Read more about it here! http://bit.ly/4gcsBw I hope you'll join in! Tomorrow's topic is fundraising and development for social change organizations. We're interested in exploring the challenges faced by non-profits AND social enterprise/for-profit models...so I hope to see you there! Let me know if you have any questions you think we should ask/focus on.

At the Center for Creative Leadership, we're using a model developed with the Acumen Fund to fold leadership development and innovation into social entrepreneurship and service learning programs. See: http://leadbeyond.net/?p=324

At Ohio State the Business Builders Club and Net Impact (Alleviating Poverty Through Entrepreneurship Summit http://fisher.osu.edu/alleviatingpoverty) and workshops (teach students about social e-ship and including social entrepreneurial projects with non-profits) as extracurricular activities at first...with the "secret plan" to build a lot of momentum and get them to be institutionalized as curriculum and regular events/initiatives
