We're Acumen Fund's newest chapter and are hoping to launch a series of events around Acumen's mission of promoting patient capital. We'd love to connect like-minded people, be a hub for ideas in social entrepreneurship and raise money for Acumen!
I'm currently finishing an Environmental Economics and Policy major from Cal. In one of my classes-- taught by Sara Boettiger the managing director of Pipra-- we saw a video of Jacqueline Novogratz and I was truly inspired by her. I have traveled to many developing countries in Latin America and my dream is to apply what I've learn in my field to help reduce global poverty. The only problem is I don't know how or where to start! I hope that by joining this community and being introduced to the work done here, I can figure out the correct path towards helping those in need.
How do you think you can best help Acumen Fund?
Spread the word, Fundraise for Acumen Fund, Promote The Blue Sweater, Lead social enterprise discussions
Are you currently a student?
Yes - Undergraduate
If you are a student, what school do you go to?

Hi Gabriela, welcome to the online community! I'm so glad that you joined and that you are clearly passionate about getting involved on here and making a difference! These are my favorite kinds of community members :) Let me give you a little intro on how to navigate through the site.
So first off, getting involved. The best way to meet members on here and interact is to join specific groups that pertain to your interests. I think that you may be interested in The Blue Sweater Fan Group, which has a lot of great information and discussion on the follow-up of the book. Some other ones that come to mind are Changing Minds, Campuses for Social Enterprise, and 1BpP (for some reason I feel like you would like this one). Another great place for discussion is on the forum.
Last but not least, I think you may be interested in joining San Francisco for Acumen. While it's a bit far from Berkeley, it's a great way to meet people in your (relative) area, and if you go to San Francisco often you may even be able to stop by for an event! If you have any questions about navigating through the website let me know. Welcome!!
