The Most Inspiring People I Never Knew or Know

One of the most relaxing things to me is drawing a nice hot bath and reading a great book or watching a documentary. Tonight was no different, except for the documentary. I have long admired Mother Teresa(who hasn't?) and read several books on her, but tonight I came across a documentary about her. For all that I know of her, you would think I knew nothing after watching this film. She is so inspiring! I take away something new every time I learn about her. To think she headed into the slums of…See More

Job searching in a broken world, yet feeling completely helpless to make a difference.

As I am sitting here on a beautiful Halloween afternoon, I still find myself frustrated. Do many of you feel the same? Like so many Americans, I am currently unemployed. I quit my job at an investment firm because they told me I had to sell products I felt were entirely unethical. I feel that I did the right thing. As I am looking for job opportunities, though, I feel I am spinning my wheels. Sure, I am qualified for every position I am applying for, but I still don't even get a call. I want to…See More

Hi Lindsay and welcome to the Acumen Fund's online community! To help get you started, do take a look at some of the different groups available which are built around specific issues and also locations; our Washington, DC group would be a good place for you to begin. This will help you be aware of events coming to your area as well as finding connections with like-minded individuals.

If you'd like to start a book club around The Blue Sweater, you can check out our Blue Sweater Fan Group too.

Lastly, please add a picture to your profile, as that will make it much easier to connect with others here.

Welcome and let me know if I can be of help as you move forward!
