Time to pull out my dog-eared bible, "The Blue Sweater," which can be referenced in every discussion known to mankind! One of my favorite passages in "The Blue Sweater" which relates to that feeling of dignity versus wealth, is when Jacqueline take…

Profile Information

Have you read "The Blue Sweater?"
Yes
Why do you want to be a part of this community?
I am so excited to be a part of this community and see how we can find ways to connect and collaborate. Personally, I am excited to work with people who want to change how the world tackles poverty.

I'm Acumen Fund's Director of Communications, and have worked here for almost seven years. I am devoted to what Acumen Fund is working to do in the world - offering a different approach to solving the problems of poverty. I truly believe in the power of communities and tribes to create change, and am looking for others who are ready to answer the call to lead through this community. Let me know if that sounds like you.
How have you already helped Acumen Fund?
I launched the water portfolio in 2003, helped invest $4 million in drinking water, irrigation and sanitation enterprises in India and East Africa, and started our Knowledge and Communications program. For the first year, we focused on strengthening our web presence and capturing knowledge through case studies and stories for the web, but we are now full throttle on Communications, sharing our story, and building an inclusive community of people who want to change how the world tackles poverty and end poverty in our lifetimes.

Hi Yasmina,

Thank you for the recommendation. It's funny because it was recently brought to my attention that campus chapters is a great initiative and I realized that it is something that could be a win-win for what I'm working on. Thanks! I would love to get more feedback, so feel free to share your ideas. Thanh

Hello Yasmina, I've been overwhelmed by your kind welcome. Jacqueline and Hans Rosling have had a tremendous impact on how I see the world (long live TED!). I'm looking forward to help set up a foothold here and will gladly appreciate any kind of hints of help acumen can provide in doing so.

Hi Yasmina,
Actually, I only became aware of Luke's work at the APTE summit. I'm glad he's done so much here, though. I'm a part-time MBA candidate at OSU, so our paths don't actually cross that much. The full-time students definitely get to have more fun!

Sorry you couldn't make the summit. Hopefully we'll be bringing you back next year!
